A Multi-Genre Showcase of Marley’s Musical Messages at the Royal Geographical Society

Whether you’re a lifelong Marley fan or simply a lover of diverse musical genres, this is a concert experience you won’t want to miss!

For the first time ever, the iconic Royal Geographical Society lecture theatre will transform into a trailblazing musical venue where Musicians from several different countries and cultural backgrounds including South Africa, India, and Ghana – will come together in the spirit of unity to perform a unique musical extravaganza celebrating the legendary songs of one of the world’s greatest musicians: the late reggae artist Bob Marley.

You’ll be taken on a musical journey that reimagines his timeless songs in an array of genres — from jazz, opera, Indian classical, soul, reggae, lovers rock, and more — showcasing the universal power of his message of unity, love, and resistance.

Hosted by David Neita — The People’s Poet, and in the presence of His Excellency Alexander Williams, High Commissioner of Jamaica, this legendary event celebrates Bob Marley the lyricist, highlighting how his artistry unites people musically, culturally, and spiritually.

Featuring

• South African Cultural Gospel Choir UK – Gospel-infused interpretations of One Love and Get Up, Stand Up, brought by the choir featured in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King.

Shagzy Sax – A saxophone-led fusion of jazz, soul, and Afropop in Natural Mystic.

• Baluji Shrivastav OBE – Indian multi-instrumentalist and world-renowned sitar player, blind since infancy, presents reinterpretations of No Woman, No Cry and Three Little Birds.

• Nubian Queenz – Reggae lovers rock trio with a soulful rendition of Waiting in Vain.

• Lotus Reign – A theatrical “drama pop” performance of Turn Your Lights Down Low.

• Ozimzim Band – Ghanaian highlife ensemble reviving Stir It Up and I Shot the Sheriff.

Each artist will infuse their unique cultural and creative voice, transforming Bob Marley classics into vibrant reinterpretations — blending soulful saxophone, melodic sitar, and genre-defying arrangements.

Bob Marley would have also celebrated his 80th birthday in February this year. Additionally, ‘Uprising’, one of Marley’s most powerful and personal albums, marks its 45th anniversary this year, commemorated by the release of a limited-edition “liquid sunshine” vinyl housed in a distinctive die-cut sleeve.

Taking place during a month that celebrates Jamaican culture, the event also falls on National Rum Day — just ten days after Jamaica’s Independence Day

Come and celebrate with an exceptional lineup of globally celebrated musicians.

Proceeds will support the Association of Jamaicans’ musical bursary programme in the UK and Jamaica, as well as wider causes and the important work they do in the Caribbean.
