Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Messiah’ Begins Production in August 2025

The anticipation is building as Warner Bros. has earmarked its “Untitled Event Film” for December 2026, now expected to be a grand conclusion to Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” trilogy. Industry insiders suggest that the studio and Legendary Pictures are reserving the date for “Dune 3.”

While finalizing the script and casting remains a challenge, this highly anticipated project is currently in Villeneuve’s pipeline. Warner Bros. and Legendary have also announced a March 26, 2027 release for the next installment in the Godzilla-Kong series. Both companies have yet to officially comment on these developments, so stay tuned for further updates.

Villeneuve and Legendary are gearing up for “Dune: Messiah,” with the filmmaker stating in January that it “should be the last Dune movie for me.” Following this, they plan to collaborate on “Nuclear War: A Scenario,” an adaptation of Annie Jacobsen’s nonfiction book, which examines the potential outcomes of a nuclear conflict.

“Dune: Part Two,” featuring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, has dominated the box office in 2024, grossing $282.1 million domestically and $711.4 million worldwide since its May 1 release. This success has propelled Warner Bros. to become the first studio to surpass $1 billion globally this year, achieving this milestone in record time.

With Villeneuve’s vision and the continued success of the “Dune” series, fans eagerly await the next chapter in this epic saga.
