Launching in September 2026 Clandestine Magazine has partnered with charity, Comrade!, to establish a charity kitchen at Edward Woods Community Centre in West London.
Our aim is to relieve poverty and financial hardship by operating a community kitchen providing food and other essential items and practical advice and support services
We will operate a community charity kitchen providing free hot meals, drinks and basic food support to individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, financial difficulty or other forms of hardship.
In addition to food provision, the organisation will offer practical support such as signposting individuals to local support services, charities and advice agencies that can assist with housing, benefits, health and welfare needs in a welcoming and safe environment that promotes acceptance, inclusion, respect and wellbeing for all service users.
By offering a safe and welcoming environment, we’ll also helps reduce social isolation and supports the mental and emotional wellbeing of beneficiaries. In addition, where possible, the organisation signposts individuals to other support services such as housing advice, healthcare and welfare support, helping them access longer-term assistance.
The service will initially operate once per week between 17:00 and 19:00 every Monday with a view to add more dates as we proceed.
Why?
It is an injustice that 9.5 million tonnes of food are discarded annually in the United Kingdom, enough to feed over 30 million people, while 7.2 million people, including 17% of children, live in food-insecure households.
Our sole aim is simple, to ensure that people who do not have enough food have it, people that need shelter have it, people that need hygienic products have it and people that need someone to talk to have it.
We abhor the injustices that prevent people from their basic needs.
